Subject: [STS] Advice Wanted Pls – SALT

Hello , I am back on the list after a break and would welcome suggestions
on how I can locate some of my SALT family.

I have found RICHARD SALT on the 1841, 1851 and 1861 census living at
Cotton (Staffs)
He was married to Hannah Holmes and had children John, George, Harriet
Sarah and JAMES.(my gg) born 1.7.1840 at Morridge in the Township of Cotton

On the 1861 census Richard was a widower living with James and Servant
Hannah Hickenbotham

James Salt and Hannah Hickenbotham married 14.10.1861 at Cauldon and must
have moved to Witton, Northwich (Cheshire) where my g grandfather HERBERT
SALT was born. From thereon the family just seem to disappear until
1885 when Herbert marries in Chapel-en-le-Frith (Derbys) to Mary Hannah
Allcock (nee Bradley) Herbert states on the marriage certificate that
James was a Labourer, so I presume that he was still alive, I have checked
the 1881 census and cannot locate either James Salt or Herbert Salt

Does anyone have the 1871 census for Staffs,/ Cheshire (sorry I cannot give
any addresses,) or make any suggestions where I could locate
either James or Herbert Salt in 1871 and 1881

TIA

Jen (Ballina NSW)
